Early OS-9 History, select content from 68 Micro Journal

November 1982

The first mention I see in the Rainbow of OS-9 occurs this month in the Pipeline column. The reference is vague and seems sort of out of place.

December 1982

Another new Microware ad for Level 2, this one with a very large 2 in it.

January 1983

Microware is down to a single full page ad this month, the giant "2" ad that debuted last month.

There is an article about putting OS-9 and Basic09 programs into EPROMs and a review of OSM, a macro assembler by Lloyd I/O and distributed by FHL. The trend towards more and more CoCo content continues.

February 1983

Finally, the somewhat official news that Radio Shack will be providing OS-9 for the Color Computer. The "Rumors" section gives the details and also talks about a promise of future 6809 systems from RS and what that will mean for the other 6809 systems out there.

April 1983

It's worth noting that the first of Peter Dibble's excellent "OS-9 User Notes" is in this issue. These are available elsewhere in better formatting. This article includes a null device driver for OS-9.

This issue also has an announcement from Microware about support registration cards.
