Early OS-9 History, select content from 68 Micro Journal

 

September 1981

Hazelwood Computer Systems announces a new 6809 system and mentions it is OS-9 compatible. GIMIX has an ad about a way to software select OS-9 or FLEX roms on their systems so you can easily switch back and forth. This month has the first "Color User Notes" section, the first section specifically for CoCo users.


October 1981

Ken Kaplan responds to a user's questions about position independant code and 6800 vs 6809 software under OS-9. He also mentions an OS-9 Pascal compiler (I believe this is the first mention of this).

Smoke Signal Broadcasting sends a press release about their new CHIEFTAN and PATHFINDER systems which states that all SSB systems run OS-9 level 1 and 2.

SSB also runs a full page ad about their partnership with Microware.
